How It Works

An Overview

You’re busy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a real adventure.

Our trips are built for adventurers who want to squeeze something unforgettable into their lives—without the stress of planning every detail of the adventure.

You just get yourself to the starting point, and we take it from there. From the moment the trip begins, we’ve got you covered—routes, logistics, top local guides, and some of the most breathtaking trails in the Andes.

We keep our groups small (max 8 people), so it feels personal, never like a tour. You’ll meet others in a similar stage of life—people who value experience over luxury, challenge over comfort, and connection over crowds.

Booking a Trip With Us

It’s very easy.

You pay a $150 deposit now for multiple day tours (3 or more) $50 for two day tours and then the remaining balance 14 days (2 weeks) before the trip.

That deposit is non-refundable, but, it can be transferred to a different trip if you can no longer make it.

The remaining balance can be paid off in one lump sum, or, we can set up a payment plan.

When you’re ready to book we send you an electronic invoice. You can pay using Visa, Mastercard, Amex etc through our partner platform: WeTravel

Afterwards, we’ll send confirmation that your spot is reserved.

From that point onwards, you can book your flights (don’t leave this too late – flights generally get more expensive the closer you get).

Booking & Payment: Securing Your Spot

Your adventure is confirmed once your deposit is received. This guarantees your place on the trek and allows us to begin securing permits, guides, and logistics.

The remaining balance must be paid before your departure date, as outlined in your booking confirmation. Unpaid balances may result in cancellation of your reservation.

All prices are listed in USD and are locked in once your booking is confirmed.

Permits & Local Regulations: Why Timing Matters

Many of our treks across Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia require permits, park entry tickets, and coordination with local communities.

These are often:

Issued under your name
Limited in availability
Non-refundable once secured

Because of this, part of your payment goes directly into non-recoverable costs early in the planning process.

Itinerary Flexibility: Built for the Mountains

The Andes are wild, remote, and constantly changing. Weather, trail conditions, altitude, and local regulations can all impact the route.

For your safety, we may adjust the itinerary at any time. This could mean changing campsites, routes, or schedules.

These decisions are made to protect you and the group, and do not qualify for refunds.

Health & Altitude: Come Prepared

Our adventures take place at high altitude, often above 4,000 meters (13,000 ft), where conditions can be physically demanding.

By booking, you agree that you are:

Physically prepared for the trek
Properly acclimatized
Honest about any medical conditions

Our guides may prevent participation if your health or safety is at risk.

Travel Insurance: Required for All Treks

Travel insurance is mandatory for all participants.

Your policy must cover:

High-altitude trekking
Emergency evacuation
Medical expenses
Trip cancellation

This protects both you and your investment in the trip.

Responsibility: What We Can and Can’t Control

We handle every detail we can—but mountain travel comes with variables.

Andes Adventure Company is not responsible for:

Weather delays or route changes
Government restrictions or strikes
Lost or damaged personal belongings
Injuries or illnesses during the trek

Participation is voluntary and at your own risk.

Assumption of Risk: The Nature of Adventure

By joining us, you acknowledge that trekking in the Andes includes real risks, including altitude sickness, extreme weather, and remote conditions.

For many, that’s exactly what makes it unforgettable.

Authority of the Guide: Safety First, Always

Our guides are experienced professionals whose priority is your safety.

Their decisions in the mountains are final. This includes adjusting the route, turning around, or removing a participant if necessary.

If a participant’s behavior or condition puts themselves or others at risk, they may be asked to leave the trek without refund.

Respect for Culture & Environment

We operate in partnership with local communities and fragile ecosystems.

We ask all travelers to:

Respect local traditions
Follow Leave No Trace principles
Travel responsibly

This is part of what makes these experiences meaningful.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change. At the same time, organizing remote treks requires early commitments, permits, and local coordination.

Our policy is designed to be fair and transparent.

Deposits: Your Commitment

All deposits are non-refundable.

They secure your place and go directly toward permits, logistics, and preparation for your trip.

Cancellation by You

If you need to cancel, the following applies:

More than 30 days before departure
Full refund minus deposit

15–30 days before departure
50% refund of total tour cost

7–14 days before departure
25% refund of total tour cost

Less than 7 days before departure
No refund

No refunds are provided for:

No-shows
Late arrivals
Early departure

Permits & Fees

Any permits, entrance tickets, or government fees already purchased are non-refundable, regardless of when you cancel.

Cancellation by Us

If we need to cancel your trip due to safety, weather, or unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered:

A full refund, or
The option to reschedule

Please note: we are not responsible for additional travel expenses such as flights or accommodation.

Force Majeure

Events outside of our control—such as natural disasters, political unrest, or pandemics—may impact your trip.

In these cases, refunds or credits will be handled fairly on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Policies & Trip Details

These are the details that help your adventure run smoothly—and protect both you and our team on the ground.

Late Arrivals: Don’t Miss the Start

Our treks often begin early and operate on tight logistics.

If you miss your departure, it will be treated as a no-show, and no refund will be issued.

We strongly recommend arriving at least one day early.

Changes by You: We’ll Do Our Best

We understand plans evolve.

Date changes or itinerary adjustments may be possible, but depend on:

Permit availability
Guide scheduling
Logistics already secured

Additional costs may apply.

Private & Custom Trips

Private or custom expeditions may have different terms due to their tailored nature.

These will be clearly outlined at the time of booking.

Equipment Responsibility

Any gear rented or provided must be returned in good condition.

Lost or damaged equipment will be charged accordingly.

Porter & Animal Welfare

We are committed to ethical practices in Peru and Bolivia.

Weight limits for porters and pack animals are strictly enforced to protect their wellbeing.

If your gear exceeds limits, additional support may be required.

Weather & Summit Success

Summiting is never guaranteed.

Weather, altitude, and safety always come first. Turning back is sometimes the right decision.

No refunds are provided for missed summits.

Your Experience Matters

Our goal is to deliver an unforgettable experience in the Andes—one that is safe, well-organized, and deeply rewarding.

These policies exist to protect that experience for everyone involved.
